There's something in the air, and it's not just the winter chill. The Graceville State School Fete is only 38 days away, and that means it's time for action.
By now, you should have heard from your class rep about the fete stall that your class will run on the day. If not, get in touch with them and see how you can help. It's a case of divide and conquer, many hands make light work, ask not what your fete can do for you but what can you do for your fete..... and so on.
Read on to see the many small ways you can contribute to a brillian community day for your school, and for your kids.
Toys
Deliver all your clean, working toys (no stuffed toys please - literally or figuratively) to the boxes outside the school office.
Books
Donations of books and DVD's to the boxes outside the school office.
Jams
All cooked jams and preserves to the tuckshop. If you haven't had a cookup yet, time to get the fruit bubbling. We also need clean empty jars and lids to the boxes outside the school office.
Garage Sale
Deliver good quality garage sale items to the Hutchinsons container near the Prep building twice weekly (Tues and Thurs afternoons from end of school until 3.30pm). This will increase to three times weekly (Mon, Tues, Thurs afternoons) in August, until fete day. We're looking for traditional garage sale items - clean and in saleable condition - such as furniture, household items, ornaments etc. Please no books or toys (as they have separate stalls), no clothing, no broken items. Also we're looking for an electrician who can test and tag electrical items prior to fete day. Contact Kathy Whitefield (0402 063 306) if you can help.
Rides
The ride band form will be going home in a few weeks and is the best way to enjoy a full day of fun at the fete. Keep an eye out for it.
Raffle
Some extraordinary prizes have been arranged for this year's raffle. A holiday, a MacBook, a car servicing package, a spa outing, an amazing photographic package. More details very soon.
Dads
Big burly blokes are needed to help with set-up for fete day. If you can volunteer a couple of hours of muscle on the Friday August 24, contact Scott Walsh at walshclan@optusnet.com.au
Art in Focus
Prep and Year 1 classes have the chance to create some masterpieces in the annual Art in Focus display. If you would like your child to take part, it costs just $10 and your child will create a fantastic sculpture just for you. Keep any eye out in school bags for your note and instructions.
Showbags
There will again be a terrific range of showbags on offer, with fantastic value for money. Kids may find that their pocket money goes further at the fete than at that other August event in town. Keep an eye out for the Freddo bag. More details to be announced soon.
